About the camp
Check out last year's camp videos here.
AKS campers have been arguing for years about which campsite is best: 1, 2 or 3. Since our Halloween Camp usually attracts more people than we can fit into one campsite, this year we have decided to stop trying to settle the argument.
We are opening all three AKS campsites. And during Halloween Camp, they will exist as three parallel AKS realities.
Participants will be divided between three separate worlds of around 30 people each. Everyone will live in their own campsite with their own group and leaders, but as the camp progresses, the realities will begin to overlap. Participants will meet, mix and spend part of the camp with people from the other worlds.
Where will you end up? During registration, every participant will have to complete a short and scientifically completely unverified Reality Compatibility Test. The final decision will be made by the Campsite Authorities. We are not authorised to comment on their methods.
For four days, we will live in a Halloween universe full of games, evening activities, spooky and less-spooky things to do, films, Halloween nonsense, shared activities and plenty of time to simply hang out. The exact programme for the three realities is still being created.
The entire camp will run in English, as some of our leaders come from other countries. English will not be a separate lesson: you will need it to meet people, make plans, play games, argue about the superiority of your campsite and urgently explain why there is a fake hand lying in the corridor.
You do not have to be the first person to jump into every activity. Some campers are in the middle of everything within ten minutes; others prefer to watch what is going on first. Both are completely normal at AKS. You do not have to be the loudest, bravest or most outgoing person in the room to belong here.
How will THREE PARALLEL WORLDS work?
Three campsites. Three realities. One very good Halloween — although, as usual, slightly late.
Every participant will complete a short Reality Compatibility Test when registering. However, we will not divide participants between campsites completely at random. We want all three groups to be balanced, and we especially do not want a first-time camper to arrive and find themselves completely alone among 30 strangers.
During registration, you will be able to name one person whom it would be especially important for the participant to share a campsite with.
Large friendship groups, however, will not deliberately be kept together in one reality. Otherwise, what is the point.
Some of your friends will almost certainly be claimed by another campsite. But the three realities will meet during the camp, so a friend in another campsite has not disappeared. They are simply temporarily existing in another dimension.
Participants will only find out which campsite they have been assigned to shortly before the camp.
You cannot choose your campsite. Your campsite will choose you.
Price
The early registration price is €100.
During the final two weeks before camp, from 21 October, the price increases to €120. Meals are included.
Arrival and departure
We recommend arriving on Wednesday, 4 November, from 19:00.
If Wednesday evening is not possible, participants may also arrive early on Thursday, 5 November.
The camp ends on Saturday, 7 November at 12:00.
Participants arrange their own transport to the campsite. If you do not have a way to get there, contact us. We will try to connect you with another participating family who may have a spare seat, although we cannot guarantee that we will be able to arrange transport.
Because this year the camp will take place at three different locations, shortly before the camp every participant will receive:
YOUR REALITY HAS BEEN ASSIGNED - along with their exact campsite number, address, Google Maps link and arrival instructions.
Please drive to the campsite you have actually been assigned to. We have no intention of organising a migration of confused family cars between three campsites in the November darkness.
Accommodation
This year Halloween Camp will take place across all three AKS campsites in the Anykščiai–Utena area.
Each campsite will host a separate group of around 30 participants together with its own leaders. Participants will sleep indoors in heated buildings, not in tents. Even AKS has limits in November.
Everyone will receive their campsite and exact arrival address shortly before camp together with the final information.
Participants need to bring their own sleeping setup: a mattress and sleeping bag or blanket. We will create our own sleeping places on the floor. We strongly recommend bringing several pairs of warm socks. Parallel realities do not keep your toes warm.
The buildings will be heated, but some activities will take place outside, so participants will need warm, weather-resistant clothing and suitable shoes. The objective is not to prove that you can survive November rain in one thin hoodie.
Participants sleep in several separate indoor spaces. At least two camp leaders sleep in each sleeping area together with the participants.
What to bring
Because this is a themed camp, Halloween accessories are very welcome: costumes, wigs, face paint, fake blood, cobwebs, creepy objects and other things that would be slightly difficult to explain on an ordinary Wednesday.
You can arrive fully prepared for Halloween. You can also arrive wearing a black hoodie with a plan to spend the first hour quietly assessing the situation.
There is no need to prepare a special outfit or colour for your world in advance. You will only discover your reality shortly before camp.
How to register
You can register by clicking HERE.
Complete the registration form. This year it also includes several extra questions required for the Reality Compatibility Test.
During registration, you will also be able to name one person whom it would be particularly important for the participant to share a campsite with.
We cannot guarantee that an entire larger friendship group will end up in the same reality. In fact, we may deliberately divide larger groups of friends between different campsites. We want each campsite to become a new group of its own, while meetings between the three realities will be part of the camp itself.
You will not receive your campsite assignment immediately after registering. All participants will discover their realities only shortly before camp.
Immediately after registration, please pay the €20 non-refundable deposit.
Once we receive the deposit, we will confirm the registration and reserve the participant’s place. Completing the registration form alone does not reserve a place. Zombies do not make administrative exceptions.
During the final week before camp, we will send the camp agreement, parental consent form, camp rules, packing list and detailed arrival instructions. Signed documents can either be emailed to us in advance or brought to camp. The remaining amount can be paid by bank transfer before camp or in cash upon arrival.
Questions are welcome by phone, message or email. No question is too small, too strange or too specific. Those usually turn out to be the useful ones.
Programme
This year’s programme is being designed specifically around the Three Parallel Worlds format. During the first part of the camp, each campsite will exist largely within its own world. Then the realities will begin to overlap.
Some activities will bring participants from different campsites together, groups will begin to mix, and what started as three separate camps will gradually turn into one Halloween. There will be more active options and very relaxed ones, Halloween evenings, games, creative activities, films, outdoor time and plenty of space simply to hang out with other people.
The detailed programme will be announced closer to the camp.
Spoiler: we promise you will not spend three days searching for hidden artefacts in the forest.
See you during the autumn school holidays. The campsites are almost ready. We are just not completely sure what is already living there.
