Over the years, AKS camps and events have helped many young people grow and develop. Those who once arrived feeling shy and hesitant to take part in group activities are now volunteering, leading activities, supporting less experienced participants, and taking part in international projects. We want their journey with AKS to continue beyond camps and youth exchanges. That is why we are taking a new step and launching the AKS Youth Council!
We are looking for 8 young people aged 14–19 to join our first Youth Council. We want to bring together young people who are ready not only to participate in AKS activities but also to help create them and shape the future of our organisation.
Council members will have the opportunity to suggest ideas for camps and Erasmus+ projects, contribute to organising youth events, help plan future AKS activities, and represent the views and opinions of their peers. We want to give young people more opportunities to share their thoughts, suggest changes, and turn their ideas into reality.
Through their involvement, council members will develop practical skills in event organisation, project planning, budgeting, teamwork, leadership, and decision-making. It will also be an opportunity to become more confident in expressing their opinions, meet like-minded people, and gain hands-on experience in skills that are often difficult to develop through classroom learning alone.
We plan to meet once a month, either in person or online, depending on the preferences of the council members themselves. We aim to launch the Youth Council in 2027, although we may start earlier if we bring together an enthusiastic team.
The AKS Youth Council is being established as a long-term part of our organisation. We want to create a community where young people can grow, try new things, learn from experience, and gradually take on more responsibility. The AKS team will support them throughout the process and help bring their ideas to life.
You do not have to be the loudest, boldest, or most experienced person in the room, nor do you need a long list of achievements. We need different kinds of people: those who are good at organising, those who come up with original ideas, those who listen carefully and notice problems, and those who simply want to become more confident in expressing their opinions.
If you have ever thought that a camp activity could have been organised differently, have ideas for new projects, or want to play a more active role in your youth community, this opportunity is for you.
We invite young people aged 14–19 to complete the application form. We would like to learn why you want to join the Youth Council, what you hope to learn, and at least one specific idea you would like to suggest for AKS activities.
The application deadline is 31 December, 2026. The application form is available in English.
